Windows may show a warning the first time

OpenVoice is new and doesn’t have a paid publisher certificate yet, so Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” message. Click More info, then Run anyway. This only happens once.

›For advanced users: check the file is genuine

Because you are being asked to click past a security warning, every release ships a SHA-256 beside the installer and is built by a public GitHub Actions run from the tagged commit. So you do not have to trust this page: you can check that what you downloaded is what CI built.

In PowerShell, in your Downloads folder
Get-FileHash .\OpenVoice_1.3.3_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Expected SHA-256
a34cafbd0b150a2ddee1c760b978e0c21a37284ecc22b968be7ead304711f382

Two different signatures, and it is worth keeping them apart. The installer is not code-signed, which is what SmartScreen is complaining about. Separately, the release is signed with a minisign key whose public half is compiled into the app, so an update that fails that check is discarded without running. That protects upgrades. It does not stop the first install from being flagged.

After it installs

  1. 1Open itThe speech model is already inside the installer, so there is nothing to download and nothing to configure. It works with the network off.
  2. 2Hold Right CtrlSpeak, then let go. The text appears wherever your cursor was, in whatever app had focus.
  3. 3Check what it heardRecent shows every dictation. If a word came out wrong, Fix a word shows you what the model actually heard and lets you correct it for next time.

To uninstall, use Windows Add or remove programs. Your history at %APPDATA%\OpenVoice\history.db and your downloaded models are yours; delete that folder if you want them gone too.
